This jasper sculpture RWC#3CA-aa01(076 Oct01) is an excellent example of a trade token or wampum. What gave Neolithic artifacts a value in barter? The two factors, need and utility, have not changed over the millenniums. If one needs the object and the object has multiple uses, then it is a valuable trade item. The stones red color gives it value as one of the Quincunz Itz stones that signifies the direction East. The above image represents the Penutian-Maya sky god Itzamna, who's home in the sky is a place the Maya call the Heart of Heaven. It was found in Redwood City, California on Maple Street, while walking along the side of the road. This portion of Maple Street was created with landfill from an unknown source.
